We are continually adding support for more businesses and services. If your bank or service provider is currently not supported, please use "Contact us" option from within app to send 1 sample SMS to us. We usually add the support for new SMS within 8-12 hours from reporting

How do I add/edit the categories?
There are 18 pre-defined and 6 custom categories. You can give any name to the 6 custom categories and even edit that name later on by long pressing the icon of the category from category selection page.
You also have an option to assign hashtag (#tag) to any transaction from the edit screen. This can help in sub-categoring your transactions. For eg #flight, #hotel, #cab, #subscriptions and so on.

What are the different types of transactions and their purpose?
All transactions are grouped under 2 heads:
1.Expenses: All charts (ie line trend, pie chart, bar chart etc) are prepared using expense transactions. Expenses can be categorized under different categories like Groceries, Dining, Fuel etc. Cashback and refund transactions are also included as negative entries under Expense head to ensure accurate accounting.
2.Transfers: These transactions are non-expense items like inter-account transfers, monthly credit card bill payment, wallet recharge/topup etc. Transfer transations are not included in the charts.

Does FinArt support e-wallets?
Yes. All types of accounts (including e-wallets) are supported.
When you topup/add money to wallet, you will receive debit SMS from your debited account. This transaction is moved to Transfer head as this is a non-expense transaction (money moved from your bank acocunt or credit card to wallet account).

Why EMI and SIP transactions are displayed under Transfer head instead of Expense head?
EMI (loans) and SIP (investments) are special type of transactions. One may like to treat these transactions as an Expense or as a Transfer based on personal preference. By default FinArt treat these transactions as Transfer but you can change the type to Expense from Edit screen. If you do so, FinArt will start treating these transactions as Expense in future.

Account balance displayed in FinArt is not correct. Why?
FinArt displays the account balance as per the balance informaiton available in latest SMS for that account. Sometimes you may not receive SMS with updated balance information, in such case balance in FinArt will not be accurate. But this will get updated automatically as soon as you will receive SMS with latest balance.

How can I Add spends manually if no SMS received?
At times, the bank may not send an SMS for a transaction or you may not receive it due to poor network/on roaming etc. You can add such spends manually by tapping the "+" button on home screen and selecting the account from the drop-down list.

How can I allocate ATM withdrawal amount to spends?
By default, FinArt adds all ATM withdrawals and cash income into your cash-in-hand amount and display it on home screen (pie/bar/list charts). When you add cash spends manually, cash-in-hand amount is reduced with equal amount. If you want to exclude ATM Withdrawals (or any specific bank account/hashtags) from tracking, you can do so by using "Exclude accounts" option from app drawer -> Settings

I am unable to see any spends in the app (Xiaomi, Vivo, Lenovo)
Installed FinArt on a new phone, or have reset it and there are no SMSes? Once you start receiving SMSes, FinArt will automatically detect them and display your spends.

There is a known issue with some phone and some settings have to be enabled for proper working of FinArt:

Xiaomi - Add FinArt to Autostart via Security App-Permissions-Autostart. Xiaomi has added an extra permission for "Service SMS" in MIUI8 - enable it from Security App-Permissions-Other Permissions-FinArt

Vivo - Switch on FinArt to run in the background from iManager->App manager->Autostart manager

Lenovo - From Settings->Power Manager->Background App Management- enable autostart for FinArt

and other devices which specifically require you to enable the app to run in the background. Once done, kill the app from active apps list and relaunch it. Run the Rescan SMS option from Settings.

How can I use FinArt across multiple devices?
You can sync data across your own multiple android devices or family member's android phone. Use "Sync with Family" option from app drawer. This helps in managing entire family expenses and budget from one device.

How can I export data to CSV(Excel)?
To export your data, select 'Export/Email' from top right 3-dot menu on list screen.

How can I restore FinArt data on reset/to new phone?
