Why aren't my SMS messages being recognized or detected by FinArt?
If FinArt is not detecting your SMS messages, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Check SMS Permissions
Issue: FinArt lacks the necessary permissions to read your SMS messages.
Solution:
- Open your device's Settings app
- Navigate to Apps or Applications
- Find and select FinArt
- Tap on Permissions
- Ensure that SMS permission is set to Allow or Always allow
- If it's disabled, enable it and restart the FinArt app
2. Check RCS/Chat Features
Issue: RCS (Rich Communication Services) messages aren't processed the same way as regular SMS. Follow below steps to receive the messages as SMS instead of RCS or Chat
Solution for Google Messages App:
- Open the Google Messages app
- Tap on your profile icon or the three-dot menu
- Select Settings > Chat features
- If enabled, try temporarily disabling Chat features
- Restart both Google Messages and FinArt apps. Future messages will come as SMS and will be detected by FinArt.
Solution for Samsung Messages App:
- Open the Samsung Messages app
- Tap the three-dot menu > Settings
- Select Chat settings
- If enabled, try temporarily disabling Chat settings
- Restart both Samsung Messages and FinArt apps. Future messages will come as SMS and will be detected by FinArt.
3. Truecaller Business Chat Interference
Issue: Truecaller may categorize certain messages as "Business Chat," preventing FinArt from detecting them.
Solution:
- Open the Truecaller app
- When you receive a message identified as a "Business Chat"
- Tap and hold on the sender's name/number
- Select Block or Block and report spam
- Alternatively, in the Truecaller app:
- Go to Settings > Block
- Add the sender to your blocked list manually
- You can also disable Truecaller's SMS filtering feature in Truecaller settings
4. MIUI Phone Settings (Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO)
Issue: MIUI devices have additional permission requirements for service SMS access.
Solution:
- Open your device's Settings
- Navigate to Apps > Permissions > Other permissions
- Find and select FinArt
- Enable Read service SMS messages
- Additionally, go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps > FinArt > Permissions
- Ensure both SMS and Notifications permissions are granted
5. Multiple User Profiles
Issue: FinArt and your SMS app are installed under different user profiles on your device.
Solution:
- Check if you have multiple user profiles:
- Go to Settings > System > Multiple users (location varies by device)
- Ensure both FinArt and your default SMS app are installed under the same user profile
- If necessary, reinstall FinArt under the correct profile:
- Take backup of your FinArt data from Settings and Uninstall FinArt
- Switch to the profile where your SMS app is installed
- Reinstall FinArt from the Play Store
6. Battery/Power Optimization Settings
Issue: Your device's power saving features may be preventing FinArt from running in the background.
Solution:
- Go to Settings > Battery or Battery & device care
- Find Battery optimization, Power saving, or similar option
- Locate FinArt in the app list
- Set it to Don't optimize or Unrestricted
For specific devices:
Xiaomi/Redmi/POCO:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps > FinArt
- Enable Autostart
- Go to Battery saver > App battery saver > FinArt
- Select No restrictions
Samsung:
- Go to Settings > Battery > Background usage limits
- Add FinArt to the Never sleeping apps list
OnePlus/Oppo/Realme:
- Go to Settings > Battery > Battery optimization
- Find FinArt and select Don't optimize
- Additionally, enable Auto-launch for FinArt in app settings
